Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has completely lost his place in Jose Mourinho’s master plan for the club. Back in July, the 32-year-old was made to train with the U-23 squad and that raised a heavy criticism for the manager, Jose Mourinho.
Now, Bastian Schweinsteiger’s former teammate Lukas Podolski has hinted he could be set for a move to the MLS. Podolski, an ex-Gunner, while speaking to Bild said:
“I think America is great. Moving abroad is good for personality development and it would also be good for our children.
“Clearly it would be possible to play with Schweinsteiger in the States. What happened to (Schweinsteiger) is unfair. It is not correct to deport Basti to the second team. A coach must always keep the doors open to all players.”
Furthermore, Lukas Podolski is less than impressed with Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The Galatasaray forward has hit out at the Manchester United boss after seeing his former Germany and Bayern Munich team-mate forced out of the picture at Old Trafford.
“When you look at the career Bastian has had, I can only say that what is happening there is simply not right for a player of his stature,’ Podolski told Bild.
“I do not know what Mourinho has discussed with Bastian. But is clear that it is not okay to drop someone like Basti to the reserves.
“A coach should always keep his door open to all players, and especially to players like Schweini.”
There were rumours about the same (MLS), but the move won’t be happening until January 2017. Schweinsteiger, who is currently earning £200,000-a-week at United, is also a reported target for the French champions PSG, according to the Daily Star. The same source has stated that Schweinsteiger, who joined United from Bayern Munich for £6.25m last summer, will remain in Europe.
