It seems like the manager, Jose Mourinho, is not very pleased with the squad and is now looking to add more depth to it. To pursue the same, many reports are suggesting that he has sent scouts to track the situation of Sporting Lisbon’s midfielder, Willian Carvalho.
The 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder was linked with a move to Premier League all summer and the teams like Chelsea, Arsenal and West Brom were the interested parties, but nothing materialized. According to the reports from the Metro, Manchester United manager is a big admirer of the player and is keen to bring him into the squad.
Carvalho came into the spotlight after his wonderful performance in the European Championship, which his country won. Carvalho is believed to be desperate to play in England and his strength and technical ability could see him thrive in the Premier League.
According to reports from O Jogo, United will offer in the region of €35million for Carvalho, who has a €45m release clause in his current Sporting contract. They have also revealed that Sporting will have to pay Carvalho a compensation of over €5m if they reject any official bid over €35m for his transfer.
The scouts watched the 24-year-old in action during Sporting’s 3-1 loss to Rio Ave and will monitor his progress throughout the coming months.
