Even after splashing almost £150 million to welcome some stellar names into the squad, Manchester United have failed to deliver the promises they were supposed to do. The Devils started their campaign optimistically as they defeated the Premier League Champions Leicester City in the Community Shield game, and then went on to win the first three games for the League.
Soon after Manchester City conquered the Old Trafford, a couple of weeks ago, the form drained out completely and the squad is now under immense pressure. These defeats mean the manager will have to assess his options right away.
The Devils welcomed Paul Pogba earlier, and if the reports from the Sun are to be believed, then the same course is about to happen. The reports have suggested that the manager, Jose Mourinho, is looking to offer Leicester City a whopping amount of £30million for their star midfielder, Danny Drinkwater.
Born in Manchester, the 26-year-old failed to break into the first team after coming through the club’s academy. During his tenure with the Devils, he spent four loan spells before making a permanent move to Leicester City in 2012. Now, Mourinho believes Drinkwater is the man to sit in front of the back four and give the likes of Paul Pogba more freedom to push on.
Drinkwater will not be easy to prise away from The King Power Stadium having just signed a new five-year deal in the summer worth £90,000 a week.
