Manchester United defender, Phil Jones, has been ruled out for a month after sustaining a knee injury. The 24-year-old defender, who only made 10 Premier League appearances last season due to ankle and foot problems, is yet to play for United this season and was also dropped by the manager from the squad that travelled to Feyenoord.
The former Blackburn man has been struggling to find a stable footing since his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, back in 2011. Due to various injury concerns, he was always sidelined for the majority of the seasons. A statement on United’s official website read:
“Consequently, Jones may be sidelined for a few weeks, which is a blow, particularly considering the Reds have a busy schedule until the next international break in October.
“Daley Blind and Eric Bailly have started as United’s central defensive partnership in all of the games thus far this season but the manager has hinted he is considering shuffling his pack for the game at De Kuip.”
Manchester United manager has also left Antonio Valencia, Jesse Lingard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw in England, mainly to prepare them for the next Premier League clash, against Watford.
