According to many reports, the Merseyside club Liverpool were monitoring the situation Borussia Dortmund’s 17-year-old attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic in the transfer window, and they even launched a £11 million bid for the American international, but the Yellow Wall rejected their offer as they are well aware of his talent.
And now, the player himself has revealed that he his a massive fan of Manchester United and has admired Wayne Rooney while growing up. Pulisic is currently on international duty with the United States and revealed to ESPN his passion for Liverpool’s bitter rivals United and his love for their talisman Rooney.
“I was a big Manchester United fan when I was younger, so I loved to watch Wayne Rooney,” said Pulisic.
“I wouldn’t say I’m a similar player, though. I think his passion for the game is something you don’t see much in players.
“That’s what I loved about him.”
The teenager, last season, became the youngest non-German to score in the Bundesliga and his series of wonderful performances have gained interest from a number of top European clubs. Furthermore, Dortmund recently signed Mario Gotze, Andre Schurrle, Emre Mor and Ousmane Dembele, and that has let the 17-year-old to fall down into the pecking order, so a move may be tabled in the coming winters.
Even though he will be finding it hard to settle into the first team action, he has insisted that the manager, Thomas Tuchel, views every player based on form alone.
“I don’t look at those guys any differently than I do any other player because of what they have accomplished already.
“I don’t think the coach does either. I think he’s just looking at every day in training and how we’re performing at the moment.
“There are a lot of great players coming in in similar positions.”
