The red half of Manchester, Manchester United, have kicked their new Premier League campaign in style as they have notched all the points from their first two games of the season. For the starters; they defeated Edie Howe’s men Bournemouth at the Dean Court and soon after that, an impressive 2-0 victory over the Saints gave a glimpse of what Mourinho will be offering the Old Trafford spectators.
This time around, the side will be travelling to the KCOM Stadium to face the newly promoted Premier League side, Hull City. Just like the Devils, the Tigers have faced some great results in the past couple of weeks. In their opening day, they defeated the Premier League champions Leicester City and that followed by a thumping victory over Swansea City.
It seems like the Tigers are in a top form, but we cannot really deny the fact that United too are a different side this season. Unlike last season, the Devils are lacking the possession, but their attacking prowess in the game is simply the best and the addition of Paul Pogba has put the final cherry on their cake. This will be a special night for Hull City’s manager Mike Phelan as he will return to his beloved Manchester United, with whom, he won the Premier League title in 1993 and also spent 14 years as part of United’s backroom staff, but was surprisingly removed when David Moyes took the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson.
Hull City vs Manchester United Team News:
The Tigers are breathing heavily as they are carrying some major injury concerns and will surely be without at least six players for the game. With Michael Dawson and Alex Bruce still recovering from their injuries, the manager might again use the same defensive pair, i.e., Jake Livermore and Curtis Davies.
Their attacking trio has been hitting a top form lately as all Adama Diomande, Abel Hernandez, and Robert Snodgrass have six goals between them already this season.
For the visitors, there isn’t any major injury or suspension. Their number one defender Chris Smalling, who came on from the bench last time out, might mark his return in the first team alongside Eric Bailly.
Furthermore, it remains a surprise whether the manager will be using the Armenian sensation, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, this time around or not? Besides that, the holding midfield will also be an issue for the manager. With Paul Pogba looking all set to start, the manager will have a headache while choosing his partner. Both Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini has been excellent in their form, but the manager still has Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin dying to start the game.
Predicted Lineup:

Stats: (Taken from FourFourTwo)
- Hull City have lost 10 and won none of their last 11 contests with Manchester United in all competitions. The Tigers’ last victory over United came back in November 1974 (2-0).
- Man Utd have won three of their four previous Premier League visits to the KC Stadium (D1) but have had a player sent off in the last two.
- Wayne Rooney has scored seven goals in his last five Premier League games against Hull City. Overall, Rooney has been involved in 10 goals in six league appearances against the Tigers (seven goals, three assists).
- Hull City have won their opening two Premier League games of 2016-17 – the only newly-promoted side to have won each of their first three games in a Premier League season are Bolton Wanderers in 2001-02.
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic has ended on the losing side in just 19 of his 185 top-flight league appearances since 2010-11 (Milan, PSG and Man Utd combined). To put this in to perspective, Hull City lost 19 games in their last Premier League season in 2014-15.
- Ibrahimovic has scored three goals in his first two Premier League appearances. The record for goals scored in a player’s first three PL apps is five – Pavel Pogrebnyak – while 8 players have scored four goals in their first three PL games.
- Only eight players have scored in each of their first three Premier League appearances: Michael Ricketts, Brian Deane, Adrian Mutu, Dalian Atkinson, Mick Quinn, Diego Costa, Pavel Pogrebnyak & Michu.
- 49 of Jose Mourinho’s 58 league defeats as a manager have come away from home (84%).
- Ahmed Elmohamady has appeared in every one of Hull City’s 78 Premier League matches since the start of 2013-14.
Prediction:
Looking at Hull City’s recent form, a tough and a nail-biting encounter is expected, but besides that, we cannot deny the fact that the Devils do have a great record against Hull City and now with the players like Ibrahimovic and Pogba, they might cause the Tigers some serious troubles. Hull, are currently enjoying a great form offensively as both Diomande and Snodgrass are hitting top form, United do have answers for them in form of Bailly and Smalling.
Surely a tough game, but we do believe that Manchester United will clinch all the three points this weekend.
2-1 United
