Manchester United are reportedly looking out to sign Southampton Captain and defender Jose Fonte as the United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing in one more defender in the squad.
The Red Devils have already brought in Eric Bailly from Villareal in a deal worth £30m and are also close to completing the deal to bring in Paul Pogba from Juventus in a deal worth record fee £100m. However, Mourinho is keen on strengthening his defense and reports suggest that Fonte is one of the players the Portuguese manager is considering adding to the squad.
The defender has made 267 appearances for the Saints since joining the club in 2010 from Crystal Palace in a £1.2m transfer deal. Fonte is also a key member of Portugal team and the player recently signed a new three year contract with Southampton last October which is set to expire in 2018.
United, however are not the only ones looking to sign the player as clubs from Turkey, Russia and Spain too are in the running for the 32 year old defender’s signature.
