Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to keep Adnan Januzaj at the club, according to reports.
Januzaj, who was once hyped as the club’s golden boy, struggled throughout Louis van Gaal’s two years at the club. But, according to The Sun, the new manager has been impressed with the Belgian’s display in training and wants him to stay at Old Trafford. He could be the man to get Adnan Januzaj’s Manchester United career back on track.
Former Man Utd boss, Louis Van Gaal was quick to overlook Januzaj, playing him just three times from the bench after his loan-spell at Borussia Dortmund.
The Dutch manager was supposedly aggravated with Januzaj’s attempt at showboating for the under-21’s, in an instance that saw the winger trying to score directly from corners against Sunderland in January. However, things at Old Trafford are certainly going to be different under Mourinho, with fringe players like Januzaj and Jones finally getting their chance to impress.
Meanwhile, the newly promoted club, Middlesbrough want to make Adnan Januzaj their latest big-name signing in this summer’s transfer window, but are being kept lingering by Manchester United. Middlesbrough have shown loads of aspiration upon their return to the Premier League this year, bringing in the likes of Victor Valdes, Viktor Fischer, Alvaro Negredo and Antonio Barragan as of now.
Their manager hopes his old colleague, Jose Mourinho will help him out by agreeing with him to land the Belgian winger, who looks to have a tough task ahead of him in terms of getting back into United’s first-team.
Adnan hasn’t really shined as he was hyped in 2013 and 2014 under David Moyes, but the youngster still has the potential to improve himself by miles and cement his place in the first for a long time. A transfer to Middlesbrough will make his career go south, and it will be a huge blow as the expectations were the complete opposite.
Once labeled as the next Ronaldo, the Belgian still seems confident and can do well under the guidance of the new manager. Hard luck for him that he was forced to waste 2 years under an extraordinary manager like Louis Van Gaal, but the future might be really bright for him at Old Trafford.
