The rumours have been buzzing around the corners of Old Trafford and since Jose Mourinho has announced that he will sign four players, almost every top midfielder has been linked by the media to the team. Well, it is just due to the reputation of the club and the managers that the top players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have joined despite of having no Champions League football.
The recent player who has been linked with the Devils is Paul Pogba. Many reports around England are suggesting that the club is ready to cash a record-breaking bid for the Frenchman and are also ready to offer a humungous amount of wages. Besides Pogba, Blaise Matuidi of PSG has also been linked with the club, and if the deal to sign Pogba collapse, then the Devils would have to look elsewhere for a proper alternative.
Soon after Jose Mourinho was announced the manager of the Devils, many players from Chelsea were linked with the side, namely, Willian, who recently signed a new contract with the Blues, Nemanja Matic, who is on Juventus’ radar and now, a new rumour has popped out of nowhere. The Daily Mirror has now reported that Jose Mourinho is currently looking to sign the former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
With Chelsea targeting Joao Mario, Nainggolan and Andre Gomes, it is understood that Fabregas’ game time will suffer under their new manager Antonio Conte. Fabregas, who came from Barcelona for £27million has a good relation with Mourinho, and therefore, the deal looks very likely. But where does this Spaniard will fit in this congested Manchester United’s midfield. The 29-year-old was heavily linked to United couple of years back, but at that time, the situation was completely different. At that moment of time, the Devils didn’t have Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger etc.
The addition of this Spanish midfielder into the squad would ruin the game time of many senior squad players and to be very honest, Ander Herrera and Schneiderlin deserve to be in the starting spot. Yes, they had a tough time at the club, but working under Mourinho will only make them better than ever. There is no denying that Fabregas is one of the rare footballers in the industry who can pick defensive locks with his deadly passing skill, but still at the present moment, he is not a must buy option for the Red Devils.
We are pretty sure that the majority supporters of the Old Trafford outfit don’t want to see Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin leaving. Like I said before, Fabregas would be a short term option and if Manchester United really wants to sign a central midfielder, Pogba is the best option rather than Fabregas.
