It’s all over Twitter, it’s all over the news — Manchester United have officially made a bid of 105 million Euros for Paul Pogba, and of course Juventus have rejected it. According to most sources, personal terms have been agreed between the player and us, and he has handed in a transfer request and his agent, Mina Raoila has convinced him to take the offer on the table: a salary of 13 million Euros every year after tax, and a guaranteed starting place in Mourinho’s team who is looking to rebuild United’s legacy. It is expected that the Turin-based club wants more money, and are asking for anything between 120 to 125 million Euros. While Pogba is undoubtedly a player of great ability and someone we could really do with at the moment, yet there are a few factors one must always keep in mind. Here are 3 reasons why we should steer clear from signing the midfielder for such an obscene amount:

1. His attitude

Pogba was sold off in 2012 for advising Sir Alex Ferguson about how he must include him in his team, and 4 years on, that arrogance hasn’t looked to change. Reports suggest that the academy graduate wanted to join Real Madrid initially, but Fiorentina Perez was not willing to pay so much money for him. It seems Mina had to convince him to join us, and thus his attitude may become a problem in the dressing room, especially given his history with us.

2. The fee

Pogba

120 million euros for a central midfielder is an obscene amount of money, no matter how good he might it. With the same amount, we could have bought both James Rodriguez and Blaise Matuidi, who would be perfect replacements. However, now the 23 year old will have exceedingly large expectations to handle.

3. His ability

While there is no doubt that Pogba is extremely talented, yet there are question marks about how good he really is. At Juventus he had the likes of Arturo Vidal, Sami Khedira and Claudio Marchisio to sit back and protect the space vacated by him as he went forward to join the attack, but he had no one like that to assist him for France in the Euros, as a result of which he failed to make much of an impression there. At United, it is unlikely that an ageing Michael Carrick, an inconsistent Morgan Schneiderlin or an unfit Bastian Schweinsteiger can marshal the midfield in his absence, so it remains to be seen as to how he can adjust here.
