Manchester United kicked off their pre-season training in style as Mourinho’s men were able to outnumber the fellow English side Wigan Athletic by two goals to nil. Will Keane and Andreas Pereira marked their names on the scoresheet and now, the team will be travelling to Asia to play their rest of the games.
The Portuguese tactician has tasted a great success so far with respect to transfers, but the manager has failed to land the player, who could have been the signing of the season for the Reds. I’m talking about Leicester City’s French midfielder N’Golo Kante, who has now signed for the fellow English side Chelsea. According to the reports from Sky Sports, Chelsea have completed the move for the French midfield enforcer.
Now, if the reports are to be believed, then Manchester United were also the interested party in the candidate, but now it seems like they will have to look for an alternative, as the player will be heading to London rather than Manchester. This is the second time when Manchester United delayed the speculation and lost the player. Renato Sanches’ move to Bayern Munich last month should have served as a wake-up call for the Reds, but it looks like they have repeated that mistake again.
Talking about Manchester United’s current situation; the team currently needs a strong and tough defensive midfielder. Yes, they have Carrick, who agreed to sign a new contract with the club, but as we all are aware of the fact that Mourinho loves his players to be fast and strong, and therefore, Carrick won’t fit the bill all the time.
Besides Carrick, there is no strong option other than Schneiderlin. The French international gave a fantastic display while his time with Southampton, but he failed badly to put a positive impact on the team and if the reports can be believed, then the player is currently linked to reunite with his former boss Ronald Koeman at Everton.
Kante was an unknown figure couple of years back and it was Steve Walsh who identified his talent and eventually in 2015, the 25-year-old came to England. The Frenchman played every single game for Leicester in the Premier League, but one, and due to his wonderful display, he was awarded a place in PFA team of the year at the end of 2015-16 campaign.
Touted as the successor of Claude Makélélé, the Frenchman took the Premier league by storm in his very first season. He was quick, he was tough and had everything in him to called as the signing of the season. Just due to his brilliance, he was selected for the France senior squad for the first time. There is no doubt that the player possesses a lot of talent and he could easily make Chelsea a title challenger. Chelsea did a great business here by signing the player, and once again, Manchester United have been left red-faced.
