Memphis Depay had a terrible debut season in the Premier League and could move away from the Theatre Of Dreams as Jose Mourinho continues to make changes to his squad.
Juventus are rumoured to be making an offer for Manchester United winger Memphis Depay, according to the Express.
He started just 16 of the 29 Premier League matches he played in and scoring just two goals.
The Serie-A champions are looking to improve their attacking options on the wing following Juan Cuadrado’s return to Chelsea as his loan spell has come to an end, and Memphis could be the answer to their problems.
Memphis failed to replicate the impressive form that saw him score 22 goals in Netherlands for PSV.
Let’s look at 3 reasons why United should let Memphis go:
- Currently, Manchester United are on cloud 9 as they’ve made few good successful signings. They already have options on the wing apart from Memphis. The new signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will go to the main team right away, further decreasing the chances of Memphis to make the regular team cut. Anthony Martial has also emerged as a decent left wing option, and Jesse Lingard fighting his way into the regular team better than Memphis all along. As it is, he wasn’t really getting enough game time under Louis Van Gaal. It will be a waste of time for the Dutch winger if he stays at Old Trafford.
- Memphis is at a stage where a player usually works hard to develop himself further before making it big. He needs more game time and that too at his most preferred position. Juventus are willing to offer him that and United shouldn’t really hold him back if they’re still looking to treat him as a squad rotation player.
- With Mourinho on a spending spree like a spoilt teenage girl, Manchester United can look to gain some profit too. By the looks of Juve’s need of a winger, they should be willing to pay €30 million easily. It can help them to buy their next potential signing; Paul Pogba. Jose Mourinho is already looking to get rid of the unwanted players as he supposedly wants a tight 22-player squad.
