To be very honest, Old Trafford is yet to see a replacement for midfield generals Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, who dictated a game and were reliable when the going got tough. Although van Gaal did bought the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ander Herrera, yet none of them have really clicked so far. Under such circumstances, it is obvious that the new manager, Jose Mourinho, will try to bring in a reliable pair of feet in the middle of the park, and Blaise Matuidi, the PSG midfielder, seems to be high on his list, incase Paul Pogba doesnt come here.
Profile:
At 29 years of age, Matuidi is a prominent figure in PSG’s midfield. The French international likes to keep the game ticking and his almost heavyweight stature makes him a fearsome opponent in the middle of the park. Alongwith Marco Verrati, he marshalled the team, broke down opposition attacks and launched thunderous counterattacks. With a passing accuracy of over 90% and a shooting accuracy of almost 100%, he is as good on the ball as he is off it.

Paris St. Germain have signed Krychowiak from Sevilla, and with just a year left on Blaise’s contract, it is obvious that they are looking to offload him and make a profit. Pogba and his agent are demanding an eye watering amount of money, so there is a chance that the deal might be called off. In such a case, Matuidi will be an excellent option to have. Although he is not technically the best, he is the midfield enforcer we need, and given his positioning sense, ability to break forward and control the tempo of the game, he just might be what we need at the moment.
