If reports from several Eurpean news are to be believed Manchester United have moved ahead of Real Madrid in the race to sign the French midfielder Paul Pogba. While Juvantus have maintained that the player is not for sale, the world record fee is expected to turn the heads of the club’s management.
While both Real Madrid and Manchester United are more than willing to shell out £80m for one of the best central midfielders in the world, although it may be the player’s wage demands that might force Madrid to pull out of the race to sign the player. Reports suggest that Pogba has demanded a £200,000 a week contract, which will make him the second highest paid player in Real’s camp and the club is not ready to disrupt the current wage structure at the club. Additionally, such a contract may anger long time servants such as Sergio Ramos and Pepe, who are on lower wages.
While Jose Mourinho on the other hand, does not have any qualms about offering the player the demanded wages in order to bring Pogba back to the Old Trafford, thus making United favorites in the race to sign the player. The Portuguese manager is looking to make Pogba his marquee signing this transfer window as he looks to strengthen his squad.
