Forget Pogba: Here Are 3 Super Alternatives Manchester United Should Look To Sign

published :

Paul Pogba has become one of the most wanted players in Europe. The French midfielder has grown into super a talent since leaving Manchester United in 2012, cementing his place in a fearsome Juventus side which has been dominating Italy for the past four years.

United’s new manager, Jose Mourinho insists that he needs a few more pieces in order to build the squad. He is in the hunt for another midfielder this summer. Pogba seems the ideal signing; quick, powerful and sneaky with great aerial ability and an eye for the goal.

It would cost an awful lot to get him back at Manchester but with Juventus club officials interested in hearing out the deal from United’s representatives, one cannot be too sure.

But according to some reports, he has his heart set on Barcelona. The club should, however, be prepared if the Pogba deal doesn’t go their way. Let’s look at three players who can be signed instead of him.

  1. Luka Modric:

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has been storming the pitches in La Liga with his extraordinary display for Real Madrid. He was sold to the La Liga giants for a cheaper price, but who knew that the Croatian player would go on to become one of the most important players for the Madrid club and also one of the best in the Spanish league. He can assist, dribble and finish better than most of the midfielders out there, and doesn’t let his short height be any kind of disadvantage. United has the money to bring back Luka to EPL, and the former Real Madrid manager should really consider buying him. He created a total of 61 chances in La Liga last season and also had an average pass accuracy of 91%.

  1. Davy Klaassen:

The Ajax midfielder has become a big name in Netherlands in recent years. He had a pretty remarkable season, earning him interest from few other clubs. In the season 2015/16, Davy made 31 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 13 goals and having eight assists registered to his name out of 54 chances he created. Even though he is a midfielder, he is now mostly known for his finishing. Klaassen has completed 874 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 79%, of which 68% were forward passes.

  1. Marco Verratti:

Verratti has been on the radar of many clubs recently (including Manchester United) after his performance in the last couple of years.

The PSG midfielder is known for his amazing dribbling and passing. The Italian player has been a tremendous player for Paris Saint-Germain and is claimed by many to have a lot of potential. Verratti has completed 1345 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 93%, of which 68% were forward passes.
