The ‘Special One’ has finally arrived at the Theatre of Dreams and every single Manchester United fan is eager to watch their heroes playing under one of the best managers in the world. The Portuguese manager will be facing one of the toughest tasks in his career and will be looking to bring the Devils right back into the winning ways.
Jose Mourinho has a great record as a manager and has won the title in every league he has managed, but no one can guarantee a success in the Premier League. Mourinho had a great season (2014-15) with the London side Chelsea, but in the season the followed, the side came as one of the worst in the Premier League.
Many footballing experts believe that Jose is the perfect man for United’s job as his records speak for him. The first duty for the Portuguese would be to bring some top quality names. There are a couple of positions where United needs an upgrade and I’m sure that Jose is working on it.
He has already signed Eric Bailly, the central defender from Villarreal and the speculation of Ibrahimovic will be concluded in the coming weeks. But soon after his arrival, questions were raised about the future of many players from the current squad that includes Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Schweinsteiger and, Ander Herrera.
Well, the point about Ander Herrera’s future under Jose Mourinho is something that most of the United fans should think of.
Ander was bought to the Theatre of Dreams by the Dutch gaffer Louis van Gaal back in 2014. His playing time was cut short due to some reasons and the Spaniard only managed 26 appearances for the Devils in the 2014-15 season. In the following season, due to the arrival of Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger, he struggled to cement a first-team spot, but still managed 41 appearances in all competition.
Manchester United’s current squad is studded with some top quality midfielders. Michael Carrick has signed a new deal with the club. Schneiderlin will be hoping to improve his form under Jose and besides that; Rooney has now started his career as central midfielder and looking at all those aspects, it is hard to see Herrera fitting in the starting lineup.
Herrera is considered as the successor of Michael Carrick, and the 26-year-old has all the qualities that would make him one of the most threatening midfielders in the industry. Herrera had his ups and downs in the Old Trafford, but he could be utilized to a great extent. The Spaniard is capable of playing in almost every central midfield area, and that would surely make him a utility player for Mourinho.
It is hard to comment anything about his future, but with Manchester United playing the Europa League, he could be of great use. He might struggle to find a first team spot, but I’m pretty sure that he could succeed Michael Carrick’s legacy.
Being a Spanish blood, playing a possession game is in his breed. He is the distributor and more importantly, he always adapt his gameplay according to the situation. He surely is a tough man to beat and this attribute of him could make him a player Mourinho is looking for. As stated, he might find it difficult to cement a place in the starting squad, but eventually, he could make it.
