The Red Devils are reportedly pushing up a move for the German midfielder, Julian Draxler this summer — less than a year after he made a £25 million transfer from Schalke to Wolfsburg.
The 22-year-old was the focus of interest from Manchester United last summer before he joined Wolfsburg. Draxler seemingly turned down a move to the English Premier League at the time with Arsenal said to be interested, along with Serie A giants, Juventus.
The German publication, Bild have stated that Jose Mourinho’s side will excite the Bundesliga side with an eye-catching bid.
Julian Draxler can play either on the left-wing or in the centre, flabbergasted for Wolfsburg last season, scoring eight goals and registering five assists to his name, and also observed by many as Wolfsburg reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
Manchester United’s new manager is seemingly eager to build up his wide options this summer after also being heavily linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Julian Draxler might also be the upcoming star for his national team as well. He has earned his name and respect in Germany and is accepted by many as a great player. But the truth is, he isn’t that good yet. In a non-competitive league like Bundesliga, scoring eight goals as a forward players isn’t that big of a deal. In fact, it’s next to nothing. The 22-year-old can adjust his life at Manchester United as he has a lot of potential and time. But he cannot expect to be a regular starter.
Jose Mourinho is on a mission to get Manchester United back to their winning ways by rebuilding the squad, and playing the team his own way, the way he has been winning trophies in his illustrious managerial career.
Draxler cannot fit in Mourinho’s squad yet as he isn’t versatile and defensive enough. Many other players who are already in the team will be missing their game time at the club because of this very reason.
We have all witnessed what the Special One needs, and by the looks of the stats, Draxler just doesn’t seem to be the Mourinho type of player.
It’s hard to imagine Jose Mourinho making a bid for him. Maybe it’s all just a rumour. Maybe!
