Who Is This Swiss Attacking Sensation That Manchester United Are After? Everything You Need To Know

Manchester United’s manager Jose Mourinho is interested in Switzerland international striker Breel Embolo but he’s not the only one, says Sport Bild.

Reportedly the 19-year-old Basel star is also a target for heavily funded Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, who are thought to have already made an offer of around £16 million for him.

But Jose Mourinho, embarking on a refurbishing of the Old Trafford squad, could make a bigger bid of his own to put a stop to them.

Reports suggest that Embolo could eventually cost up to £28 million and might earn £76,000 a week at Old Trafford. News out of the Switzerland is that he’s excited by the prospect of joining United. And he’s eager to work with Jose Mourinho.

Valued at such a high amount, Embolo is probably a question mark signing, and might be very well criticised in the upcoming season by the English media if he does indeed, land up at Old Trafford after the Euro 2016.

But we know how the story of Anthony Martial went. Breel Embolo can be a great signing, similar to that of Anthony Martial, and also one shouldn’t doubt Jose’s eye for talent.

Breel Embolo would provide a good strength and composure up front for the team, which has lacked massively during Van Gaal’s time as the manager.

“One thing I can say today,” says Basel youth coach Werner Mogg, “from a footballing talent perspective, Breel moves in a sphere with Ivan Rakitic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabian Frei.

“He has an incredible physique, is fast, big and dynamic. Even when he appeared here in his first session in 2010 – he had forgotten his boots – it was clear to me that he would play sooner or later for the first team.”

A move for this Swiss youngster can be a good decision by Mourinho, especially if the deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic goes south.
