Forget Pogba: 3 reasons Why Manchester United And Mourinho should go all out for This La Liga Star

Manchester United have entered the battle to sign Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, who is also a target for Chelsea, Barcelona and Juventus. The Red Devils are yet to make an offer unlike their Premier League rivals, but are expected to make a move during the transfer window.

Sky Sports report suggests that Chelsea had a £32 million bid turned down by Valencia with the La Liga club said to be expecting for a fee closer to £42 million. It is supposed that the midfielder’s former club Benfica are entitled to 25% of the fee due to a sell-on clause, which is a sticking point in discussions between the parent club and concerned club.

Andre Gomes has scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists in 33 La Liga appearances during the 2015/16 season.

Manchester United should go all-out for the Portuguese player. Here’s why:

  1. Playmaker

Manchester United needs more playmakers as the chances created in the last season were very limited, which further reduced the probability of converting them into goals. Gomes has been a steady player at the heart of the midfield for Valencia and his former club, Benfica as well.

He created a total of 30 goal scoring chances last season, and had 82% pass accuracy.

  1. Improvement stage

The Portuguese midfielder is just 22 years old and is still fighting his way to the top.  He is at the age and position where he is bound to improve his game by miles. Signing him for a relatively longer duration can be very beneficial to United, as he will be able to deliver more and better. That is, if he really adjusts in the Barclays Premier League, which he probably will? Hope so.

  1. Versatility

Andre Gomes isn’t just capable of playing at the centre midfield, but also as the central attacking midfielder, left-midfielder, right-midfielder, and also as a right winger if the need really goes onto that level. The 22-year-old will be another player with that much versatility after Wayne Rooney, of course.
