David De Gea’s future was almost at Madrid last season before a botched set of paperwork saw the player’s move to Real cancelled. That had not stopped the media from linking the Spaniard to the capital of Spain and many expected that Real Madrid will attempt to trigger the player’s release clause this summer.
However the good news is that the release clause expires in the midnight today and it is unlikely to be triggered now. In that case, Manchester United hold every right to deny a transfer to any club. This comes a major win for Jose Mourinho, who is reportedly the reason for De Gea staying. The player has been United’s best player for the last three seasons and keeping him at Old Trafford will definitely lighten the mood around the club.
De Gea is currently in Euro 2016 with his Spain teammates and will return after the tournament.
