Jose Mourinho can be appointed as the new manager at Old Trafford any time now as Louis Van Gaal has been sacked from his position at the club. Many changes will take place immediately after the Portuguese manager is officially on the hot seat at Manchester United.
The staff and the players, everything at the club will face an amendment as we know the Special One is picky when it comes to his job. The club is supposed to support Mourinho with 200 million euros to spend on transfers. And very few would disagree with the amount being more than enough, given the already young talent developing on heights at the club.
We do expect him to sell-off a few players when he gets started with his job to have some vacancies to fill in with new players, and not wanting the undesirable players to fiddle around on the sidelines on most matchdays.
Let’s look at some players who will most likely exit the club under Mourinho:
- Juan Mata
The Spaniard has played under Jose Mourinho at his time at Chelsea and knows the Portuguese manager very well. Juan Mata was sold to Manchester United as he was not needed by Mourinho despite the fact that the Spanish midfielder was Chelsea’s Player of the Year twice.
Jose Mourinho was not happy with the defensive abilities of Mata, and wasn’t afraid to let him go. The Special One always bases his team tactics on defense, as he gives his first priority to defend his own goal than to score in others’. It will be no surprise if the two don’t get along together at Manchester United as well.
- Michael Carrick
Carrick has slowed the way down since recent years, and the English midfielder struggles with his abilities and skills to make up for the lack of physicality in the game. Michael Carrick will without a doubt, be one of the first players Jose Mourinho would consider letting go. We have seen Jose Mourinho playing his game fast, using the wings more than required. Sure, he settled well with Louis Van Gaal’s slow and more possession game, but it will definitely not be easy for the veteran midfielder to cope up with Mourinho’s style of play. And will most probably see his way out very soon.
- Marcos Rojo
As I was saying, Jose Mourinho takes the defensive responsibilities pretty seriously in the game. Rojo on the other hand, has been one of the players who have repeatedly made mistakes in most of the games, costing the team many goals. Why Louis Van Gaal selected him in most matchdays in the starting XI is beyond explaination. Mourinho, on the other hand, will not and usually does not support any nonsense defeding. We have seen him benching the likes of Kaka and Casillas at Real Madrid. So seeing the Argentine let go by the club or at least, spending his valuable time at the bench will be not a surprise either.
