Louis Van Gaal has finally been sacked now. The Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho is the most potential candidate to replace the former Bayern Munich manager at Old Trafford.

Mourinho would be the third manager at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down at the end of the 2013 season after 26 years in charge. He is due to hold talks with senior Manchester United officials on 24th May.

Jose Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December 2015; seven months after the club won the Premier League title, and has been out of work since, but he is considered as the best option for Manchester United to replace Louis van Gaal.

But there are cons to his appointment as the manager too.

Cons:

Jose Mourinho will most probably struggle to support Manchester United’s values. He is known to do everything his way and doesn’t take interest in other people’s opinion. He is very particular about his needs and can let go of any player if he thinks he doesn’t need them. The Portuguese coach has also shown in the past that he doesn’t give the youngsters at his club much exposure; he just makes money out of them. Fans that criticized Van Gaal for the spending are in a rough ride as they will witness a whole new level of that with Mourinho as the manager.

Pros:

One criticism of Louis van Gaal, during his time as the manager, has been the lack of presence on the touchline. The Dutchman was always seen on the bench taking notes when Red Devils’ supporters desire a touch of passion when the chips are down. Mourinho is almost the opposite. Moreover, his presence on the touchline is very effective. A more premeditated manager in front of the cameras, and uses his press conferences to notch up points or undermine others in a different way to Van Gaal.

Teams under the Special One, play perfectly exciting football throughout the majority of a season, but in important matches, particularly in Europe, and towards the end of the season become more watchful, very much like Sir Alex Ferguson.

His tactical genius is a trait that defines Jose Mourinho as a coach. The most important factor for Jose Mourinho is to have a fixed models and principles, to know them well and make every player settle in and use them. This is what he calls game organization. His vision is to create supremacy in numbers and we have witnessed that.

The Special One has been successful at every club he has managed. The ex-Real Madrid boss knows Premier League too well and has bossed around in England at his time at Stamford Bridge.

Most of all, his desire to manage Manchester United is one of the worst kept secrets in football. Before re-joining Chelsea it was widely reported across the media that the highly decorated manager wanted to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Mourinho always wanted it.
