StarSports reports have revealed that the Real Madrid defender Rafael Varane is currently discussing a possible move to Old Trafford. The player is often regarded as one of the best young center halves in the continent.

This season Varane has struggled to hold down a starting berth after arrival of Zinedine Zidane and the player is looking to move away from Madrid as a result. Manchester United are looking for a competent partner for Chris Smalling and will seek to secure Varane’s signature for £30 million in the summer.

However the player’s move is considered to be under one condition. The presence of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford is key to his move and the player has warned that he will back out of the deal if Louis Van Gaal is in charge. United had chased Varane before he moved to Madrid and are keen to get him again. However, this means Van Gaal would need to leave. Not too many fans would be hurt by this though.
