According to reports in several media, Jose Mourinho will not be taking over Manchester United’s helm in the summer of 2016. Apparently the Portuguese manager has rejected the offer from Manchester United altogether.
The reason is that the Red Devils have asked him to wait till the summer of 2017 when Louis Van Gaal wraps up his business at Old Trafford. While Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with United performing below par for most of the season, many within the club has felt that the tradition of promoting club’s youngster is better managed by Louis Van Gaal than Mourinho. The Portuguese has the reputation of bringing in established names and winning trophies rather than promoting from the academy and this particular trait has caused the event.
Manchester United’s current graduates like Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, Borthwick-Jackson has impressed and the club wants to give them a chance to become better players next season rather than offloading them to other clubs.
