Manchester United scripted a historic win over Everton last night to proceed to the finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2006-07 and are also going to play in a Cup final for the first time after Fergie’s retirement. It was a thrilling affair, as Fellaini scored the opener against his old club but Smalling’s unfortunate own goal after half time levelled things up as Everton turned the screw on us. However, Anthony Martial ended up scoring the winner in the 93rd minute of the match in true United style and sent the 30,000 travelling fans and millions across the globe into a total frenzy. Here are the 3 things we learnt from the game:
1. David de Gea is the best keeper in the world.
De Gea has been one of the main reasons why United are where they are at the moment, and last night he again showed why we worship him as our God. He stopped a brilliant penalty from Lukaku, and pushed away a sharp shot from Barkley in the dying stages. It takes nerves of steel and amazing ability to do what he did yesterday, and as fans, we are only grateful that Madrid’s fax machine broke down last summer and prevented the transfer.
