Gerrard Pique, in a recent interview has drawn comparison between Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson as per Mirror.
Pique is the only player to have played under both the managers and after moving to Barcelona from United, on several occasion, has mentioned that he is still close to United at heart. Therefore, it is no doubt that he has hailed both the manager as two of the greatest bosses of all time.
“When I was at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson was already 20 years a coach so he took the position of the coach in a different style,” he told Rio Ferdinand in an interview with BT Sport.
“Guardiola was young and he was really intense, every day. When I was at United, I remember Queiroz as the man who did the training. Sir Alex was more outside, controlling everything.
Ferdinand added: “Like the godfather,” to which Pique replied: “Exactly.”
“Both of them, you can see their careers – they are both fantastic.”
Pique started playing professionally at United before making it to Barcelona where he won two Champions League under Guardiola. The Spaniard is set to take charge of Manchester City in the summer and Pique was rumored with a link to the blue side of Manchester but the defender said that he would not even dream of a move to City as he is United supporter. The defender then went on to say that both Sir Alex Ferguson and Guardiola have a very “godfather”-like approach.
