Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho

Teddy Sheringham has backed Jose Mourinho to be the next Manchester United Manager as per Sunday People. The ex-United player has claimed that the board, which is currently divided on Mourinho, should forget about the manager’s past and appoint him as a new manager of the club.

He also has hit out at Louis Van Gaal saying that even after two seasons the Dutchman’s United are still far from a complete product and are nowhere near to the progress they should have made. He has urged the club to make the change and bring in Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United are currently in two minds as some in the club hierarchy feels that the Portuguese is not the right man given his controversial attitude and behavior. Also, some feels that they should give an opportunity to Ryan Giggs who has functioned as the understudy to Louis Van Gaal for two seasons now.

Sheringham said: “You have to try and get the best. For me, Manchester United are still in among the top two or three clubs in the world. So you have to go for the top two or three managers. I’d go for Mourinho although maybe he doesn’t quite fit right for the kind of club United are. But if it was him, he would make it happen, that’s for sure. It’s time to make the change. If Van Gaal stayed, he’d be going into his third season and they still aren’t quite firing on all cylinders. After two years in charge, you would think they would be close to being where you would want United to be, but it’s hard to see the progress.”
