3 Pogba-esque Players Manchester United Should Target This Summer: Featuring Arsenal’s Welsh Box To Box Player

Sir Alex Ferguson is widely regarded as a Godfather at Old Trafford, but the Scotsman has also made a few mistakes during his 26 year tenure. The most widely recognised and debated among all these mistakes is probably the manner in which he let go Paul Pogba, the French midfielder who was an academy graduate to Juventus. Since his departure to Italy, the midfielder has grown to be one of the very best in the world, and the Red Devils could really do with someone of his ability in the central of the park, given that is the position they are yet to address properly. Unfortunately, there is hardly any scope for Pogba to return to Manchester United, since not only did he leave under bitter conditions but many media houses have reported that he has probably already signed a pre-contract with FC Barcelona. Here we enlist 3 players who could be a replacement for the Frenchman, and although they are probably not as good, they have the potential to be:

1. Marco Verrati

The Italian doesn’t exactly play like Pogba, in fact he is more suited to the deep-lying playmaker role in the mould of Andrea Pirlo. However, his style of football could add a completely new facet to United’s midfield, and he would be a brilliant fit in midfield, where he could not only sit and protect the back four but also initiate attacks with his exceptional passing range. The 22-year-old does have disciplinary issues though, and we all know how unforgiving the Premier League is in that department. Of course, it remains to be seen if Paris St. Germain will ever leave it’s prized playmaker, but he should be at least a potential target for the Red Devils this summer.
