After a somewhat unexpected match result at the Etihad on Sunday, Manchester United seems optimistic about the remaining games in the Premier League. Louis van Gaal’s men are hoping to continue their winning performance further in the league to reach the top 4 spot. The win in the derby fixture saw Red Devils levelling up on points with West Ham United and just 1 point behind Pellegrini’s side.
Manchester United’s fans are still not satisfied with their team’s performance. We have seen that the team isn’t able to continue their winning streak for more than three or four games.
Red Devils’ form this season has been so inconsistent that a slip against smaller teams doesn’t come as a shock. The Dutch boss claims that the team is optimistic about their remaining games in the Premier League and believes that they can conclude the season at the top fourth position.
The fans however, wouldn’t be surprised if the Red Devils fail to make it to the Champions League next year. Although they grabbed an important win over Manchester City at Etihad, they haven’t reasonably been in form lately.
Manchester United have eight games remaining in the Premier League to accomplish the current objective. The reason to be hopeful about is that five of those games are to be played at home, which is a definitive advantage van Gaal’s men could ask for other than having Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw back, of course.
But United haven’t somewhat been in a decent form lately. The Red Devils have managed to win just 1 out of their last five games in all competitions.
This isn’t really a stat which would make any Manchester United supporter hope for next season’s Champions League or even winning the F.A Cup.
United also failed to proceed in Europa League as they lost the first leg against Liverpool at Anfield and drew the second one at home. Fans would’ve expected van Gaal’s men to progress to the quarter-finals as their side had won last four encounters with Liverpool in the Premier League.
Manchester United’s form has been so inconsistent that all we can do is hope that the team performs the same as they did at Etihad for all or most of the eight games remaining.
