Tips For Manchester United Board: Why This Long Serving Welsh Man Should Not Replace LVG

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs

Louis van Gaal is on the verge of being sacked as many of us know. The Dutch manager has found it difficult to manage the Manchester club. Van Gaal has achieved success across Europe in different leagues managing different leagues but couldn’t quite achieve anything in England.

The hype when the ex-Bayern Munich coach was signed up to put in charge of Manchester United was dreamlike. He signed a three-year contract coming into effect after the 2014 World Cup. His presence attracted many world class players to sign for Manchester United even though the Red Devils had failed to qualify for Champions League.

Van Gaal had named Ryan Giggs as his assistant manager. The long-serving Welsh man was kept a part of the club after the sacking of David Moyes in 2014.

Ryan Giggs was appointed as a player-coach under David Moyes and later took over as the club’s interim player-manager when the ex-Everton manager was sacked. He is one of the top names to succeed, if the Dutchman is sacked in the summer.

The ex-United players Nemanja Vidic and Paul Scholes have also backed the Welsh player on becoming the next Manchester United manager.

“He knows the club, the standards and the expectations.” –Paul Scholes, when asked if Giggs could replace van Gaal.

Fans won’t be disappointed with the decision if Giggs is in fact, appointed as the man in-charge at Old Trafford, but will it be truly what United needs right now? Haven’t they suffered enough downfall since Sir Alex retired to take any more chances? Why not appoint someone who has already done wonders in EPL?

Let’s look at why Ryan Giggs shouldn’t replace Louis van Gaal.

Managerial Experience:

Just because Ryan Giggs has been one of the best players in the club’s history doesn’t necessarily mean that he can do a good enough job at managing the club. It requires a lot more than just having the knowledge of the game.

People argue that Giggs has already experienced managing the team for few matches but what they don’t know is that Ryan Giggs had himself admitted to breaking down in tears, due to the pressure of managing United.

The United legend should gain some more familiarity as an assistant manager for few more years.

Not taking any more risks:

The club has suffered more than enough downfalls since Sir Alex retired. Someone who has already achieved success in English Premier League should be the one employed for the job.

Ex-United player, Rio Ferdinand who played alongside Ryan Giggs for 12 years thinks Manchester United would be taking a risk if they appointed the Welshman as their next manager and had his say why Jose Mourinho should be the favourite.

“Jose Mourinho’s name is getting mentioned. If you want someone whose got a career track record in winning in the Premier League and various other countries, then he’s that guy.” Ferdinand said in a recent interview.

With Jose Mourinho as one of the most favourite to be the next manager alongside Ryan Giggs, a club with such a rich history and success can easily grab hold of any other manager who is doing wonders with their teams or already have done.

Phillip Cocu (PSV Eindhoven), Allegri (Juventus) and Thomas Tuchel (Dortmund) are also being considered to be approached for the job.

The club needs someone to get the job done and bring back the club to the top of the list.

Manchester United needs to get back to their winning ways as soon as possible if they need to maintain their standard which took more than two decades to achieve and Ryan Giggs certainly isn’t the man to be relied on under these crucial moments.

Red Devils wouldn’t want to be the upcoming Liverpool who would just rant about their club’s past as an excuse for their failure in the present.
