Nicky Butt, the former Manchester United midfielder has been appointed as the head of the club’s youth academy. The news has brought excitement among fans who were thinking that the club was losing its tradition and identity under the new manager Louis Van Gaal.
The 41-year-old former player was also assistant manager to Ryan Giggs when he acted as caretaker manager. Other than that he was reserve team coach and under-19 coach since 2012. Butt himself has come the ranks in United and was part of the famous class of 92 batch that won the treble.
Now with changes in the system of the youth does this also signal changes in the management in the first team? Some media houses seem to think so. Louis Van Gaal only managed to increase pressure on himself after losing to Sunderland and we may see changes in the managerial spot soon there as well.
