According to reports from Daily Star on Tuesday, Louis Van Gaal is sure to leave at the end of this season. The main reason? Appointment of Pep Guardiola by Manchester City.
As per the report, Manchester United’s failure to lure Guardiola to Old Trafford has now thrown the board into a corner. With their local rivals gaining strength and the current team’s performance in decline the board are ready to let Louis Van Gaal leave.
Manchester United has started the season in a decent note. While the style of football was a bit tepid to the taste the fans are accustomed to, result was steady in the beginning of the season. In the recent months, there has been a dip in the form and adding onto that the unattractive football has compelled the fans to call for Van Gaal’s head.
Now to pile on to that pressure, with the recent appointment of Pep Guardiola in Manchester City, United executive vice president Ed Woodward believes that Jose Mourinho is the only person to go toe-to-toe with the Spanish coach. Jose Mourinho does have a decent record against the legendary Barcelona team under Pep Guardiola with his Inter Milan and Real Madrid being the only teams to snatch trophies away from the Spaniard.
