Ander Herrera gave an interview at Marca on Friday and spoke about his club, his future plans and his friendship with De Gea and Mata. Everything seemed to have gone well and the questions and answers were pretty generic. One thing that stood out however is the player’s admission that Mourinho is suitable for Manchester United.
With a lot of speculations doing rounds, Herrera was asked if he thought Louis Van Gaal will be sacked or not and the player defended his manager and pointed out the level of patience and confidence shown by the English teams to their manager. While taking the names, Mourinho’s name did come up and the player revealed his admiration for the Portuguese. Does this mean that the ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid coach is on his way to Manchester United. Many of the Spanish and Portuguese media seems to think so. Well, you may judge it for yourself given the conversation of Mata below.
“The prism is different than in Spain. Here it’s more patient, but not only with Van Gaal. With Mourinho, three points from relegation, they didn’t throw him out.”
“Wenger has gone nine years without titles and he’s still there. City goes three weeks without a win and no doubts about Pellegrini. So back to Van Gaal, I think it would be unfair because the line of work in England is to give confidence.”
When asked about Mourinho’s style suiting United, “It’s funny that. You see, Mou played for Chelsea with Cesc, Willian, Oscar, Hazard and Costa. Only Matic as a defensive midfielder.”
“Is that not attractive? Or his Madrid scoring record? His Chelsea, with how hard it is, won the Premier well in advance… Yes I have seen Chelsea play well.”
