Manchester United have a large kitty at their disposal, and the board of managers will not hesitate to spend it in the summer. Although the Old Trafford outfit has already spent 250 million pounds in the last 2 summer windows, yet the squad still lacks the depth and ability to match with the best. As it is, United have yet to address a few issues in the squad, especially in the forward line. The Red Devils could do with some real pace and skill upfront, and both Gareth Bale and Neymar have the credentials to be the X Factor for United. Here we take a look at which of the two would be a better fit for the Manchester club:
GARETH BALE:
The Welsh winger has been in blazing form this season, leading Real Madrid on both domestic and European fronts. Although he faced a lot of criticism last season for supposedly poor form and lack of desire, yet the former Tottenham man has put all that behind him. 14 league goals and 8 assists has made him the Galactico’s go to man this season, with Cristiano Ronaldo blowing hot and cold this season. He also led his national team Wales to the finals of Euro Cup 2016, the country’s first major tournament in decades. However, it has been widely speculated that Bale and his family are not big fans of Madrid, and would love to return to England sometime soon, with United being the forerunners to procure his services if he does decide to come back.
NEYMAR JUNIOR:
The Brazilian has been the focal point of Barcelona’s famed MSN trio, netting in 17 league goals already. With his bag of tricks and pace, the former Santos man is a dream forward for many coaches. Although he struggled to settle in initially, yet he has taken massive strides since the start of last season, after Luis Enrique’s arrival at Nou Camp. The former Celta Vigo manager has used Neymar on the left wing mostly in a 4-3-3 formation, and he has simply blossomed in that position, setting up goal after goal and scoring as many as well.
VERDICT:
If van Gaal stays, he will look to buy a wide man who is tactically flexible. As such, Neymar junior will be a better fit, given he not only works harder than Bale off the ball but is also a better passer of the ball. While he may not be as fast as the former Southampton player, yet he makes up for with his technical ability and higher footballing intelligence.
