If reports are to be believed, Manchester United had been tracking Antoine Griezmann for some time now. Now after the interview of Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone, the English club has received a huge boost and may start pursuing the striker more aggressively. The forward has not only been point of interest for United but also for City, Chelsea, Real and PSG.
He has score43 goals in 81 appearances since coming to Atletico. In spite of that Simeone has hinted that if a big offer comes for Griezmann, then Atletico will consider letting him go. The player currently holds the contract with the Madrid club till 2020. Simeone also revealed that the directors of the club has been speaking to him about what is best for him and the club. I think we are getting a hint when that happens.
“The sporting directors have been speaking to him directly, with those close to him, in order to work out what’s best for him and the club,” said Simeone.
“Of course he’s a very important player for us, but we can’t hold him here with chains.”
While it is not sure that United will be bidding for the player in the near future, given their interest level we can’t rule it out.
