Thierry Marchand, a French journalist had reported that Manchester United are still attempting to hijack Manchester City’s move for Pep Guardiola. It was reported that the Old Trafford officials had met with the Catalan coach at Hotel Bristol on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.
Manchester United has denied the truth in the report, as now reported by Mirror Football. Pep Guardiola, after he declined to renew contract with Bayern Munich, has been linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City. MirrorSport had mentioned in one of their publications that the current Old Trafford manager Louis Van Gaal may be stepping down at the end of the season. The first season in charge the Dutchman gave Manchester United the Champions League qualification and was expected to better the feat this season. However the manager is currently under immense pressure after failing to do so thus far. The pressure however is reported to be more from his family than the club management.
If Louis Van Gaal, leaves at the end of the season that will be opportune time for Pep Guardiola to take up the Old Trafford responsibilities. Jose Mourinho also has been considered and is another top target for Manchester United in case that happens.
