Liverpool faced their 4th successive defeat against Manchester United, as the Red Devils won 1-0 thanks to a solitary Wayne Rooney goal. The Reds were by far the better team, creating numerous opportunities but failing to finish any of them. Only Anthony Martial looked like he could do something while attacking for United, while De Gea stood like a rock at the back. The rest of the team looked clueless in general, with the centrebacks not sure when to pick up Roberto Firmino who was playing as a false no. 9, and the midfield, and Ander Herrera in general showing poor ball retention and passing abilities.

However, a win against the Merseysiders is always welcome, and here are the 3 things we learnt from the game:

1. WE LOVE THIS VERSION OF WAYNE ROONEY

With his neat finish against Liverpool last night, the Englishman made a new record: most goals (176) scored by any player for one club in the Premier League crossing Thierry Henry who had 175 goals for Arsenal. This was also Rooney’s first goal at Anfield since 2005 and now he is only 9 goals shy of breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of netting the most goals for Manchester United. Although he didn’t have a great game in general, yet at this rate (he has 5 goals in 4 games this year) ,we expect him to make that feat very soon.
