3 Reasons Why This Youngster Is The Next Big Thing At Manchester United

Martial

Very few knew about the 19 year old Anthony Martial when Manchester United paid 36 million pounds to bring him from Monaco. Most pundits disapproved the move, stating doubt in the Frenchman’s ability and labelled it as a ‘panic buy’, as because it was widely reported all throughout the summer that United were hotly chasing Robert Lewandoski and Thomas Mueller. However, 2 months into the season, Martial seems to have the world at his feet, and here are 3 reasons why he can be the next big thing at Old Trafford:

1. HE IS A NATURAL FORWARD

Ask him to score goals, he will. Ask him to play with his back to the goal, he will. Ask him to play out wide, he will. Louis van Gaal has already used Martial in a number of different positions so far this season and so far he has excelled in every position. 4 goals and 3 assists to his name along with the Player of The Month award will only spark him off to achieve more and more.

2. HE IS EXCEPTIONALLY MATURE

For a 19 year old, Martial is exceptionally mature. He works hard, has a great feet, is a dream tactical fit, crosses well and also is a natural goalscorer. It’s hard to believe a teenager could be this well rounded, but it looks like United have unearthed a real gem. Even in the last game versus Everton where Martial was deployed out wide, again to accommodate Rooney and Herrera in the centre of the park, he put in a top performance. Dribbling past Seamus Coleman, one of the better right backs in the league on various occasions and even had a shot cleared off the goal line. Above all, the composure and calmness this lad has is unreal and he looks more like a seasoned pro than a newbie. One only hopes that this stays with him forever!

3. HE HAS HIS FEET ON THE GROUND

So many youngsters these days fail to fulfill their potential because they aren’t focused on their careers, however, Martial is not of that mould. He leads a quite life with his family, never makes it to the front pages of the newspapers, works hard in training sessions and has a very likeable attitude. While United have lost players of great calibre before, like George Best, and recently Ravel Morrison due to their off field lifestyles, this kid appears to be cut from a different cloth.

Given the fact that this is his first season and that he is only 19, we as fans are prepared to see him off the mark in a few games, but as long as he has the will to improve and the desire to play at the most romantic club in world football, he is always welcome to try our patience.

Here’s to your best future, Anthony!
