In his recent interview, Barcelona star Dani Alves has now revealed that he tried his best to convince his former team-mate Pedro to snub Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United in favour of staying at Barcelona. Even though Manchester United were considered the firm favourites to sign him, in an unexpected turn of events, the attacker signed a £21m deal to move to Stamford Bridge instead.
Missing out on the 28-year-old was really sad for the Red Devils, after being linked with him for several weeks.
Now, Dani Alves said, “I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved.”
“Had he stayed he would have been happy here, but we don’t make the decisions. If we did I would want him to stay for years.”
