According to reports now, Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has now talked about his affection for the Premier League and north London giants Arsenal in particular, though he hopes that he can win the league in his native country Portugal. The 23-year-old superstar has a €45m release clause in his contract with the club, which expires in 2018.
The defensive midfielder was also being monitored by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in the past. The Portuguese star was named the best player at the 2015 UEFA Under-21 Championship and has already hinted now where he would like to play in the future in his recent interview.
He told A Bola, “I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting, but if I ever do leave then it’s a sign that my work here was well done. I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here. I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I’ve always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching. Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League.”
