Despite the belief that clubs struggle to negotiate transfers during a World Cup summer, there are plenty of big names on the move and Kroos may be as well.
According to the Daily Express, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos is still yet to agree any contract extension with the Bundesliga champions and may still be available.
Kroos is currently in Brazil with as part of Joachim Löw’s Germany squad, who got their tournament off to a flyer with a comprehensive 4-0 drubbing of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
Even though his club situation is surrounded by uncertainty, the 24 year-old played a central role in the Portugal win, with an assist and maintaining the highest pass accuracy of 96%. (Squawka)
In his first summer as Bayern Munich manager, Pep Guardiola didn’t make any changes to Jupp Heynckes’ treble winning side of 2013. But that could change this summer.
Although the former Barcelona boss has stated that he wants to keep Kroos, in my opinion he doesn’t seem to be fighting for him or saying “he is not for sale at any price.”
I believe if after the World Cup, if Kroos decided he wants a regular starting place and receives offers from big European clubs, Guardiola will let him go instead of him leaving on a free next year.
Manchester United and Louis van Gaal see Kroos as one of their top midfield target and will be relying on the Dutchman’s relationship with the player to lure him to Old Trafford.
