With Javier Hernandez linked with moves abroad, Manchester United’s search for a new striker has lead them to a familiar name. But I can’t see him joining the Red Devils.
The Express reports that Manchester United are willing to take a massive chunk out of their transfer warchest and offer Paris Saint Germain £56 million for forward Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan frontman has been reportedly frustrated in his first season in the Parc des Princes, because of manager Laurent Blanc’s team tactics and formation.
Even though the former Napoli man is still seen as one of the world’s top strikers, there is only one central spot in Blanc’s 4-3-3 and that is operated by some guy called Zlatan.
However, even though Cavani was forced to play in a wide position, he still managed an impressive 16 league goals as PSG retained their Ligue 1 title. (Squawka)
The former Napoli man is one of the few remaining true number 9’s at the top level and is in a class with Aguero, Lewandowski, Falcao and now Costa.
Although United have the money to get him and Paris Saint Germain won’t want to keep an unsettled player, I really can’t see him at Old Trafford next season.
The names mentioned above and including Cavani, to me are A-list players. There are a few things which they need before moving club, a first-team position and European football.
Neither of which van Gaal would be able to offer him. In my opinion, Cavani will definitely give it one more year in France.
But if Blanc doesn’t change his formation he may look to a return to Italy or possibly land a big move to Spain.
