Growing up an Everton player and swapping to Manchester United, Liverpool won’t be up there with Wayne Rooney’s favourite clubs. He has enjoyed a love-hate relationship with those up at Anfield over the decade or so that he has been in the Premier League, and it looks like their good form this season has hit a nerve for the United forward.
Reported by Sky Sports, Rooney said, “To see City doing well, and particularly Liverpool, is really difficult.”
It’s understandable. We all feel like that. But this Sunday gives us the chance to bring them down a peg or two and remind them that they will forever be in our shadow.
I, personally, think it is up to Wayne Rooney to inspire the type of performance needed to beat Brendan Rodgers’ men, and I also feel that he has the ability to do so.
His hunger and desire to win is something we see each week, but throw in a bitter rival and that can only be intensified.
Then, chuck in the fact that Liverpool are right up there challenging the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for the title, while we sit in sixth, and it’s unbearable to think of them beating us at Old Trafford.
Come on Wayne, use your frustration to spur us on at the weekend.
Thanks for sharing, I love liverpool.
