Being a Manchester United fan this season has been difficult as I have had to withstand our reputation taking a battering. David Moyes has come in and our confidence and ability to win convincingly has seemed to have left at the same time, though what I think of the manager is best saved for another article. I do believe that he is partly to blame, and the main reason is because of his team selection.
We have seen so many negative selections throughout the former Everton boss’ debut season and I am fed up with it. I agree with giving Adnan Januzaj a rest, but shutting Zaha out and then sending him on loan was a big mistake in my eyes. He has already showed what he is capable of at Cardiff.
I focus my attention on this weekend’s tie with Fulham, who sit rock bottom of the table, and I beg Mr Moyes to choose an attacking formation to ruthlessly destroy the Cottagers.
To do so I would stick Januzaj back in the side, on the left, with Juan Mata starting from the right. It’s not his best position, but he drifts in anyway and takes up a more central role in which he thrives, and we [United] are better off for it.
The two players have speed, creativity and nimble feet, all the while holding the ability to unlock a defence, so you would have thought that it wouldn’t be a problem rolling over a backline with the worst goal difference in the league.
Please Moyes, start Januzaj and Mata.
