Should Manchester United Use Anderson As Part Of Deal For Duo?

After six years at Old Trafford there is a feel that this could be the last season at the club for the Brazilian midfielder, and while he has been linked with a move back to his former club Porto, it seems as though it won’t go ahead due to funding. However, with new reports coming out that United are interested in Porto pair Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi, perhaps they can come to some agreement to use him as a bargaining chip.

25-year-old Anderson has been nothing short of a failure in my eyes and he offers almost nothing to the United midfield. However, I do think if he was at a different club, with different fans, then he could save his career.

But he isn’t even in the same league as these two for me. Mangala is a big, powerful central defender who is still only 22. Despite his age, the France international has established himself as one of the top players in the Portuguese leagues and he holds all the leadership qualities that you’d want for someone in the heart of your defence. Not only is he domineering in the air but he’s also comfortable with the ball at his feet.

He is almost the perfect replacement for Rio Ferdinand for me and would compliment the rest of the back line brilliantly.

Otamendi is another central defender but he is a slightly different player. He’s a smaller, stockier player more in the mould of Nemanja Vidic, who likes to throw himself about a bit and get involved in the niggly side of the game.

The 15-time Argentina international has a dogged determination about him and with Mangala makes Porto’s defence almost unbreakable.

To flog Anderson and bring in these two warriors would be a perfect move for United, in my opinion.
