Over the past few days it seemed like every man and his dog were reporting that emerging Barcelona talent Thiago Alcantara was set to leave the Camp Nou in order to further his career at Old Trafford, but how quickly things change during the silly season!
Now after a quick walk around the park and some fresh air, it seems like every man and his dog have returned slightly muddier but with a new story to tell. Now it seems Thiago is set to choose Bayern Munich over Manchester United, with the pulling-power of former manager Pep Guardiola seemingly too much to resist.
The news will come as a source of sadness to United fans however there will be no need reminding fans that last season United came good in the transfer market with Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa despite losing the battles for other talents such as Lucas Moura, Eden Hazard and Wesley Sneijder.
David Moyes will now need to either make Thiago re-consider or find another midfielder to help bulk out arguably United’s weakest spot.
