It has been announced today that Phil Neville will take up a role as a first team coach at his former club Manchester United. He follows his old Everton gaffer David Moyes as he starts his reign at Old Trafford, so here we have 10 facts on the younger brother of Gary Neville.
1) Born in Bury in 1977 Neville started training with the Manchester United youth system where Gary was already playing.
2) He would progress into the first team with the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs.
3) Phil Neville is actually a twin. His twin sister Tracey Neville was a professional netball player who played for England.
4) Neville went on to make 386 appearances for the Manchester United first team, scoring eight goals, before he made his switch to Everton in 2005.
5) While at the Reds, Neville won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, three Community Shields and a Champions League.
6) He then went on to make over 300 appearances for Everton before he was released at the end of last season.
7) Neville represented England at U16, U18 and U21 level before he made his first senior appearance in a game against China in 1996.
8) He earned 59 caps before 2007 when he played his last game against Andorra.
9) His mother, Jill, is General Manager and Club Secretary of Bury FC.
10) Phil followed his brother Gary to the media side of football, but will now take his place at Old Trafford, along with Ryan Giggs who has been named as a player-coach.
