Watching us play over the last fortnight or so starting from the disastrous night in Europe against Real Madrid to our unconvincing 1-0 win over managerless Reading at home has caused me stress which is typical in the business end of the season when supporting Manchester United.
But the thing I have been wondering over that time is why exactly is Robin van Persie starting for us?
Yes. I questioned why RVP is starting and with his goalscoring form I have every right to do so. Another thing I will question is why Javier Hernandez isn’t starting ahead of him? I mean the man is our third choice striker, has scored 16 goals so far this season and hasn’t been poor like RVP has when given the chances in recent weeks.
Hernandez scored a brace against Fulham in the FA Cup 4th round at home, he scored when he played against Reading in the 5th round and against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter finals after 4 minutes in with a great header in front of the Stretford end and he has started all three of these games whereas RVP hasn’t scored a goal since we beat Everton at home last month which and has not scored in a staggering 7 games now.
I can only think that Robin is starting on sentiment because of the goals he has scored so far this season and I am thankful but against Real Madrid and Chelsea when we desperately needed that spark, that bit of magic he was nowhere to be seen at all. The amount of chances he had in both of those games you could count on one hand and he really is far from the player he was a few months ago.
I believe that if you’re not contributing to the team and especially in the business end of the season which we are in and fighting on two fronts then you do not deserve to be in the starting line up when there is someone who isn’t lacking in confidence and would take the chances that he is missing on the bench.
My personal feeling is that Robin should be dropped and Javier should start because he doesn’t need a second invitation to score a goal and we have Sunderland away, Chelsea away in the cup replay and City at home coming up and we need our in form players and Robin is well out of form which doesn’t help with such vital games coming up.
I just want what is best for the team and we have so many key games to win from now until May and I want the best players to be playing. Maybe Robin will go on international duty with Holland and bag a few and get back into his superb scoring form who knows as we can only hope as fans.
Thanks for reading.

why you yellow bellied varmit!!……..RVP has looked tired……and fergie shouldve rested him of late…he has carried a largely average united team this season……..and its showing now as he looks tired and in need of a break…..however to suggest he should be dropped is sacrilege….rested yes….dropped no……..and i would like to see hernandez play…however fergies obsession with wellbeck means that wont happen………hernandez is actually 4th choice which is sad……..sadly i think we will end up losing hernandez because of our wellbeck obsession…….and sadly our foward line will be as RVP gets oolder be led by the dreadful wellbeck…….who doesnt even have to score goals…..
Hello boys…15 points clear, FA Cupm1/4 final and you talk of benching Robin Van Perfect ? Are you nuts ?
We play our best XI now until the summer and he is in it, no question.
Remember this man cost us £70m in transfer fee and wages over 4 seasons, that's £300k a game. Value at the end of it will be zero. So run him into the ground.
Hernandez is a goal poacher and that's all nice and neat but Welbeck will be the number one striker at United after RVP, Rooney and Chicarito are a memory.
Right now lets win the double and let the players rest over the summer.
The transfer window will open and maybe some will go and some will come but SAF and Chicarito know that out means down and why would he leave the best team in England ?
