That Boy Giggsy, He’ll Play As Long As He Wants!

Ryan Giggs. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Manchester United fan, fan of football or have no interest in the Sport at all the man is a worldwide and household name.

Ryan is 39 but yet he defies time as he plays like a 21 year old and has done for ultimately his whole Football career which has lasted for 22 years and is still going strong.

In a poll voted as Manchester United’s best ever player the way he has been playing of late has justified that honour.

The most decorated player in English Football history who started out as a 17 year old who had Sir Alex Ferguson on his doorstep on his 14th birthday telling him he wanted to sign him and wanted him to sign a professional contract with the club three years on from that day and it has been one of the best decision those two have ever made in their illustrious careers.

The fact Ryan is still one of the key players, an important cog in a well oiled machine that is Manchester United football club and has been for 22 years says something about him. From his first appearance as a substitute in March 1991 to his fabulous display in our FA Cup triumph yesterday against Fulham in which he scored an early penalty in to give us the lead he has been class throughout this long period of time and he is one of the players that deserves to go down as a true ‘footballing legend’ and one of the all time greats.

Ryan has transformed his game from a rapid winger equipped with an array of talents ranging from his change of pace, crossing ability, heading and his passing to a central midfielder providing a lot from the Engine room and keeping up his record adding to his tally of being the highest assisting player in Premier League history with tremendous displays helping to dictate the tempo with Michael Carrick alongside him and controlling the games swinging them in our favour.

Recently Ryan has been running the show for us especially in the games against Wigan, West Ham at home in the FA cup and tonight against Fulham and he really has been rolling back the years. 27 days into the new year and a new year has made Ryan seem somewhat revitalised as he has been one of the players making differences and contributing to the outcome of games recently especially as it was his inspired moment of brilliance with his superb vision and magnificent long ball to Robin van Persie who scored the goal that kept us in the FA Cup.

In the replay against West Ham at home Ryan gave a 10 out of 10 performance as his passing was magnificent. Nearly every forward pass he made was outstanding and lead to a goalscoring opportunity. He was playing with a real swagger and confidence and Ryan Giggs with high confidence is scary to face.

Lots of people in the football world ranging from commentators, pundits, players and fans were in full praise of Giggs for the way he ran the show against the Hammers. Everything he touched turned to gold that night as his first touch, vision, passing and control were absolutely first class and the only thing missing from that night for him was a goal which he should have had as he should have taken the penalty which he did amazingly well to win after showing great feet almost twisting the blood of defenders like he has done so many times in his career.

Yesterday he got his goal as he scored the penalty to give us the lead after 3 minutes and after the way he has been playing of late it is no less then he deserves. Superb, magnificent and scintillating. Some of the words to describe not only his form of late but they way he has played in his whole career.

I do hope Ryan extends his deal after this season and plays on for at least one more year into his 40’s because he is showing he still has the talent and right attitude towards the game.

If he does retire then it has been an honour to watch Ryan Giggs play for one of the worlds biggest football clubs and help make it what it is today as for me he is the best ever player in this clubs history in my opinion and we have had some very, very talented players play for this magnificent football club.
