In Ashley Young’s career to date he has seen everything from lows to highs.
Back in the 2004/05 season at Watford he was facing relegation from The Championship because of one big problem, the London side didn’t have any money.
On the other hand what kept them out of going from League 1 were their players like America’s Jay Demerit and Young.
The next year Watford went from nowhere to somewhere and again Young and Demerit were at the focal point of it. In 2005/06 Watford surprisingly secured Premier league promotion via the play-offs. It was that year that Ashley Young shined. In 20 league appearances he scored 3 goals playing an integral success in a young team.
Through his performances that year he was recognized by many teams as a target in the January transfer window. However Watford rejected them. Midway through the 2006/07 season Young was sold to Martin O’Neil’s Aston Villa.
Whilst there good performances saw him get noticed, by Sir Alex Fergusson and other top bosses because of his dynamic wing-play. The strengths of Young are undoubtedly his passing and crossing ability. During his time at United Young has been at his best when he delivers crosses into the box and he has formed a great partnership with Wayne Rooney.
All and all Young is a good player who can find the net regularly and deliver the perfect cross. In the end Young only needs to work on his movement and be more consistent in his work in order to stay in the starting 11.
Lastly once again when Ashley Young was signed last year a person might say Sir Alex has found the diamond in rough. It’s likely this season we might have to wait to see if it works out as it will be another big year for Young who needs to prove himself again.
